A Member Gone
Today, the Great Northern Fishing Club, mourns the loss of one of its members. Ed (the jig man) Goeller has passed on and left us physically. “One more for the books” Ed would say after each trip. This became a club mantra. At Eddie’s place in Cape Vincent, on the beautiful St. Lawrence River, he afforded us the bonding that men seek and cherish. The memories of the last 30 years will be entwined into our souls for the remainder of our years. Our club is made up of high school buddies, brothers, cousins, and friends. We went looking for a place to share a laugh, eat well, get outdoors, do some fishing and relax. Ed allowed us this and more. After a couple of years we must have worn on him and he gave in and joined us. We know that time will heal our pain, but for today we feel the loss.
A member gone ……….
but a memory of a friend
that will forever remain.
